I like building things.
I'm a product designer with 10+ years of experience, and the through-line is that I like to build: design systems, research practices, features, and sometimes the team around them. I've been the only designer in the room, and one of nine designers aligned around a single component library at Southwest.
How I work
Find the constraint, then build.
In short: find the real constraint first, let real signals change the plan, ship a smaller real version before the big one, and build foundations into the work instead of against it.
The long version, with the receipts, is on How I Operate.
How I lead
Put people in position to succeed.
I played volleyball professionally, where six people share a court and everybody covers for everybody. The game taught me an empathic way to read a team: understand the dynamics, find each person's strengths and weaknesses, and put them in position to succeed, because the team's success is the goal. I put myself on that list too: I try to be honest about my own strengths and weaknesses, keep working on the weak spots, and know my limits.
I also try to assess what the business needs, understand how the team works together, and accommodate those needs, morphing my role to suit the team like a chameleon of sorts. At Money.com I ran one-on-ones, syncs, and critique for a four-person design team, and I started a mentorship program for junior designers. I'd rather pair with engineers than throw designs over the wall. The wall is usually where the details go to die.

Outside work
Strategy, with doodles.
I coached volleyball too. These days it's chess, and I've been making art since I drew Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in first grade. The common thread is probably strategy, with doodles.
